Better Search on TennisMetro

Just a quick note to let everyone know we now have a much-improved search system on the site. Try entering a neighborhood, court name, or username in the searchbar in the header, and you'll see what I mean: The system will now return locations that match your query, as well as players from that area (if there's a match). Enjoy, and please let me know if you have any feedback.

figuring out TennisMetro

ok, so I've been in touch with a couple people, but I have yet to figure out how we contact each other on this thing. My messages seem to appear late, and I never seem to be able to read private messages sent to me. I guess by the time I figure it out, I'll be playing Kate Hepburn tennis (two bounces, I get the doubles lines to hit into in singles).

Looking for tennis buddies

I don't want to put my age because I have heard that is how your identity gets hacked on facebook.  you can tell from photo.  Haven't played for a long time but did play intercollegiate tennis for University of Texas.  I would like to find partners on westside who want to get back into tennis.

My 'heading to the US Open' playlist!

Every good athelete has their playlist to get them pumped up either for working out or in my case 'TOTAL DOMINATION' :). Anyway, today I will be taking my shot at the wild card bid for the U.S. Open. "But you're only a USTA 4.0 Ronjini..." Ah, I'm glad you mentioned that. Yes, I am technically a USTA 4.0, but you NEVER know what can happen. People may break their arms, legs, pinky toes and...

Want to play in the U.S. Open? Here's how...

I'm distracted today; distracted by tennis, which is not at all a bad thing. I'm not actually sure how I came across it but I'm glad that I did. I'm going to get my shot to play in the 'BIG GAME'! Have you ever thought, hey wouldn't it be great to get a wild card into the U.S. Open? Well now you can. For the first time ever, USTA is holding Sectional Qualifying tournaments all...

A near-local find- Brady Tennis Camp

If you're in California and can't exactly get the time or money to get away to the revered IMG Bollteri Academy this summer to improve your tennis skills, don't fret. There's some great local camps around. And if you still want to feel like its kind of a getaway, I came across the perfect camp for you.   The Brady Tennis Camp in Santa Barbara. If you're like me and love tennis AND wine, this...

Gear up for the Season - physically of course

If you have read any of my blogs, you'll see I'm a little obsessed about fitness, but due to my schedule it's hard for me to always stay on top of it. But I think about it all day. I was having a conversation with my friend about staying fit and being the best. My goal this women's season is just to wipe out all of my opponents. Then I got to reading a...

The best tennis retail (and places to stay away from) in LA!

Aside from knowing who and where to play tennis; you gotta know where to get the good tennis stuff. Sometimes Big 5 and Sports Chalet just doesn't cut it; but other times its pretty good. Here, I'll let you know the best and worst placed to go for tennis in the LA area. Where's the best place to find a racket? Racket Doctor,   Los Feliz 3214 Glendale BoulevardLos Angeles, CA 90039-1834(323) 663-6601 This place is...

Starting a new season

One of the main reasons, I wasn't writing as much in the past few months; was because I was out on the court playing. This year is the first that I joined an adult mixed doubles league. It was very competitive and fun to play. We were undefeated all season; but lost in the sectionals. Each time I play I want to get myself stronger for the next round. What's the next round? Women's season....

The key to staying hydrated...

I was watching a program about athletes and hydration this week and realized two things: 1) How important it is to stay hydrated; and 2) Most of us tennis players don't hydrate enough when we're playing.   Although Agua (water) is the best and most essential tool for staying hydrated there are several other ways that we need to replenish ourselves during our matches; especially with the summer approaching. What is that you ask? Electrolytes!...

Guess who's back?

You may not remember me...After being absent from the TM world for quite a while, I relize the growth of the site has been great. I am happy to come back to a more crowded space :). I guess sometimes you come back to places when you need it. I now live in Long Beach and must rejuvenate my tennis circle. After playing in a couple of mixed doubles groups, I was reminded of how...

Tools for Tennis - The Obiband

I saw this most awesome tool on a Facebook ad and new that I just had to share with my Tennis Metro family. Its the Obiband Tennis Ball Holder. Essentially its a belt, but if you're someone that has those favorite workout pants that don't have pockets this is the answer for you. Especially in the winter, I have trouble with my tennis outfits, because my most comfortable workout pants don't generally have pockets. The...

Player Profile - Ana Ivanovic (Beauty, Brains and a Social Conscience)

After watching Ana play today, I realized that she is my kindred tennis spirit. Blazing fast serves are her signature and I don't mean to brag, but my serve ain't too shabby either. Its too bad the rest of my game needs a lotta work. Currently ranked 20, here's some info on my new fave!   Ivanović's mother Dragana, who is a lawyer, attends all of her daughter's matches. Her father, Miroslav, a self-employed businessman,...

Back in Action- It's Australian Open Time!

Ahhhh! The beginning of another beautiful tennis season. I'm excited to announce my picks for this year's Australian Open. I will be right here with my injured ankle watching this fantastic beginning to a new season. While its difficult for me to put a finger on the 'real' winner, I can narrow it down to who I think will be the top 5 in each category. Excited to see the madness that ensues. Stay tuned...

Recovering: How-to choose the right TENNIS shoes!

I knew it was important to have specific shoes for Tennis, however, until my recent injury I didn't realize how important. I'm now trying to desperately recover from a foot injury that may possibly have something to do with my shoes.                                                        Replacing your tennis shoes is VERY important. I'm sure that many of us are guilty to wearing our shoes through the sole, wearing regular fitness shoes, wearing the wrong size, etc. Here's a...
