FYB: Tennis Serve Progressions #1

Today, I'm sharing the first video from FuzzyYellowBall's tennis serve progressions series. I recently went through this series, and along with a stepped-up practice schedule, I've seen a marked improvement in my serve.

The core lesson of this video is about pronation. Basically, this means when you swing up at the ball during your serve, your racquet face should be perpenticular to the ball. In other words, you'll be swinging at the ball with the edge of a racquet, like a blade.

At the last moment, you bring the racket face about to hit the ball; this is called pronation. It gives you increased racquet-head speed, and although it feels weird at first, once you master it you'll hear a satisfying thwack when you hit the ball. You'll have more power and spin with less effort.

Big thanks for the FYB guys for producing these great videos, and allowing us to re-post them here on TennisMetro.
