  • Matches should be best 2 out of 3, 6-game pro sets with 7 point tiebreaks

The prize for this ladder will be determined by the ladder members themselves! Here's how it will work:

  • TennisMetro will award a prize in the form of a TennisWarehouse giftcard.
  • The amount of the gift card will be calculated like this:
    - $5 per match played
    - $10 per ladder member with at least one match played

For example, if, when the ladder closes, there are 10 members who have played at least one match, and a total of 20 matches have been played, the prize will be $200 (10x$10 + 20x$5).

This gives everyone an incentive to play matches and recruit new members for the ladder.
  • The prize will be split 50/50 between the winner and the player with the most matches played (this could be the same person, in which case, he'd get the whole prize)
  • There is a $500 maximum prize limit.
  • Ladder moderator is not eligible for the prize

39-point Rules

Called the '39-point system' (the most games that could be played in a 3-set match), this ranking algorithm awards winners, but gives losers an incentive to win as many games as possible.

  1. You may challenge anyone in the ladder.
  2. You MUST play a best 2 of 3 match.
  3. If you defeat a higher-ranked player, your point value is replaced with the opponent's point value plus 39 points minus the number of games won by the loser.
  4. If you defeat a lower-ranked player, your points are increased by 39 points minus the number of games won by the loser.
  5. The losing player's points are increased by the number of games they won.
  6. Challenges expire after 10 days. This auto-declines the challenge, and decreases the challenged player's points by 20.
  7. No ranking change occurs if a challenge withdrawn by the challenger.

Example:
Joe beat Ann 6-2, 4-6, 6-4
Ann had 24 points, Joe had 14 points
Joe now has 14 + (39 - 12) = 41 points
Joe now has 24 + 12 = 36 points

Notes

  • Both players must make a reasonable effort to schedule and play a match within 10 days.

  • The challenger must be willing to play at the opponent's courts, in or near Twin Cities.

  • If a good-faith effort is made, but a match can't be scheduled, the challenger should withdraw the challenge to avoid dropping the opponent's ranking.
