Ronjini's Blog

My 'heading to the US Open' playlist!

Every good athelete has their playlist to get them pumped up either for working out or in my case 'TOTAL DOMINATION' :). Anyway, today I will be taking my shot at the wild card bid for the U.S. Open. "But you're only a USTA 4.0 Ronjini..." Ah, I'm glad you mentioned that. Yes, I am technically a USTA 4.0, but you NEVER know what can happen. People may break their arms, legs, pinky toes and...

Want to play in the U.S. Open? Here's how...

I'm distracted today; distracted by tennis, which is not at all a bad thing. I'm not actually sure how I came across it but I'm glad that I did. I'm going to get my shot to play in the 'BIG GAME'! Have you ever thought, hey wouldn't it be great to get a wild card into the U.S. Open? Well now you can. For the first time ever, USTA is holding Sectional Qualifying tournaments all...

Gear up for the Season - physically of course

If you have read any of my blogs, you'll see I'm a little obsessed about fitness, but due to my schedule it's hard for me to always stay on top of it. But I think about it all day. I was having a conversation with my friend about staying fit and being the best. My goal this women's season is just to wipe out all of my opponents. Then I got to reading a...

Starting a new season

One of the main reasons, I wasn't writing as much in the past few months; was because I was out on the court playing. This year is the first that I joined an adult mixed doubles league. It was very competitive and fun to play. We were undefeated all season; but lost in the sectionals. Each time I play I want to get myself stronger for the next round. What's the next round? Women's season....

The key to staying hydrated...

I was watching a program about athletes and hydration this week and realized two things: 1) How important it is to stay hydrated; and 2) Most of us tennis players don't hydrate enough when we're playing.   Although Agua (water) is the best and most essential tool for staying hydrated there are several other ways that we need to replenish ourselves during our matches; especially with the summer approaching. What is that you ask? Electrolytes!...

Guess who's back?

You may not remember me...After being absent from the TM world for quite a while, I relize the growth of the site has been great. I am happy to come back to a more crowded space :). I guess sometimes you come back to places when you need it. I now live in Long Beach and must rejuvenate my tennis circle. After playing in a couple of mixed doubles groups, I was reminded of how...

Tools for Tennis - The Obiband

I saw this most awesome tool on a Facebook ad and new that I just had to share with my Tennis Metro family. Its the Obiband Tennis Ball Holder. Essentially its a belt, but if you're someone that has those favorite workout pants that don't have pockets this is the answer for you. Especially in the winter, I have trouble with my tennis outfits, because my most comfortable workout pants don't generally have pockets. The...

Player Profile - Ana Ivanovic (Beauty, Brains and a Social Conscience)

After watching Ana play today, I realized that she is my kindred tennis spirit. Blazing fast serves are her signature and I don't mean to brag, but my serve ain't too shabby either. Its too bad the rest of my game needs a lotta work. Currently ranked 20, here's some info on my new fave!   Ivanović's mother Dragana, who is a lawyer, attends all of her daughter's matches. Her father, Miroslav, a self-employed businessman,...
