Want to play in the U.S. Open? Here's how...

created at: 04/27/2010

I'm distracted today; distracted by tennis, which is not at all a bad thing. I'm not actually sure how I came across it but I'm glad that I did. I'm going to get my shot to play in the 'BIG GAME'! Have you ever thought, hey wouldn't it be great to get a wild card into the U.S. Open? Well now you can.

For the first time ever, USTA is holding Sectional Qualifying tournaments all over the nation for a wild card to the US Open. I figure here is my chance to potentially get creamed or by some twist of fate get a wild card into the US Open with the greats!

Melanie Ouidan did it, why can't I? Here's the Link to check it out and see if the sectionals are coming to an area near you: http://www.usopen.org/USOpen/Home/National_Playoffs/Southern_California.aspx

The Southern California area tournament for the draw closes on May 7th and is being held in Claremont on May 17-21, you can register here: http://tennislink.usta.com/tournaments/TournamentHome/Tournament.aspx?T=93458. What have I got to lose? :)

Of course to register for this opportunity, you have to be a USTA member, but there are so many benefits to that. I know I sound like a USTA commercial, but I just love tennis. It's a little bit pricey at $134.88; but its a once in a lifetime opportunity. I better get to training.

See you at the big show!
